A Prayer for Damaged Hearts
By Lynette Kittle
“The Lord is near the brokenhearted and saves those that are crushed in spirit” – Psalm 34:18
Feeling heartbroken might be one of many worst pains we endure as people. It’s an outwardly unseen damage, a wound so deep, nobody else can take away the ache from us irrespective of what number of candy, comforting phrases they communicate to us. No drug, painkiller, or consolation meals is ready to take it away. All humanly cures and options fall brief, solely masking the ache for some time, being completely helpless to eradicate if from our hearts without end.
But there may be One who has the facility to take away it’s sorrow, with the facility to consolation us in a manner that makes it bearable, and to even change it with pleasure. Psalm 30:11 describes how this may occur, “You turned my wailing into dancing; You eliminated my sackcloth and clothed me with pleasure.” Sounds unimaginable however but it’s true. There isn’t any heartbreak too deep or devastating for God to heal. As Psalm 147:3 assures us, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
But regardless that God is keen, it typically takes time for us to provide it up, to let Him have it. We frequently cling to the ache in concern of letting it go, believing if we do, then the final remnant of our love will probably be gone without end and we’ll be left with nothing to hold onto. Typically we discover consolation in our ache believing its higher to linger in its wounds than to let go totally. However hanging on solely deepens and provides to sorrow and retains us from the promise of being let loose and able to obtain greater than we’ve misplaced.
God by no means supposed for us to expertise damaged hearts. The ache and struggling they convey are from the evil one who like a thief, brings such devastating heartache, some folks dive into deep despair, giving up hope and the need for all times. However Jesus tells us, “The thief comes solely to steal and kill and destroy; I’ve come that they might have life, and have it to the total” (John 10:10).
Regardless of how deep the injuries of a damaged coronary heart, God assures us He’s with us. “For I’m the Lord your God who takes maintain of your proper hand and says to you, ‘Don’t concern; I’ll aid you’”(Isaiah 41:13).
Let’s pray:
Expensive Father,
You alone, God, know the sorrow deep inside my coronary heart and You alone are the One who can heal my damaged coronary heart. “You who’re my Comforter in sorrow, my coronary heart is faint inside me” (Jeremiah 8:18). On this darkest of occasions in my life, Father, I flip in direction of you, asking You to fix my brokenness and prolong Your therapeutic into to each space of my coronary heart that’s ripped and torn aside. I’m powerless, Lord, to take away this heartbreak from my coronary heart however You who created my innermost being and knit me collectively in my mom’s womb, could make my coronary heart anew once more (Psalm 139:13).
I reward You, Father, as a result of in You, I could be let loose from the grief, as your phrase assures, “So if the Son units you free, you may be free certainly” (John 8:36). Thank You for Your nearness to me throughout this time of overwhelming heartbreak and loss. In Your stunning identify I launch my deepest sorrows and obtain Your considerable life. At this time, Father, I obtain Your freedom from this brokenness to heal my coronary heart. I look to you to show my sorrow into pleasure and to interchange my many tears shed with joyful songs (Psalm 126:5).
In Jesus’ identify, Amen
