Below are the categories of products I get asked about most, along with what actually matters when choosing within each one.
Sunscreen
Look for broad-spectrum protection, SPF 30 or higher, and a texture you’ll actually enjoy reapplying, because the best sunscreen is the one you’ll use consistently. Mineral and chemical formulas both work; the right choice comes down to your skin type and personal preference.
Moisturizer
A good moisturizer should match your skin type, oily, dry, or combination, rather than whatever is most heavily marketed. Simpler formulas with fewer irritating fragrances and additives tend to work better for sensitive skin.
Resistance bands and basic home equipment
For strength training at home, a solid set of resistance bands, an adjustable set of dumbbells, and a yoga mat cover the vast majority of effective exercises. Expensive equipment is rarely necessary to get started.
Protein and pantry staples
Plain, minimally processed options, like plain yogurt, oats, and simple protein powders, go further than trendy “diet” branded products that are often more marketing than substance.
Sleep and recovery basics
Blackout curtains, a consistent sleep schedule, and reducing screen time before bed do more for recovery than most supplements. If you do consider a recovery supplement, look for third-party tested products.
This page will keep growing as I test specific products and can speak to them honestly. If there’s a product category you’d like my take on, feel free to reach out through the contact page.
